• Image of Turquoise Cabochon Sterling Silver Wirewrapped Pendant with Silver Beads

Turquoise is a semi-precious mineral composed of hydrated copper and aluminum phosphate. It’s name comes from the Turkish traders who brought it from Persia to Europe, hence the French “turquois”. Water flowing over rock released minerals that flowed into crevices and formed veins and nuggets of turquoise. Other minerals are often present, in fact the composition varies with location. Turquoise is often formed as veins in a host rock. I do not know the mine source of this pretty piece.

Wrapped in solid sterling silver wire.
