My creations are lovingly crafted by hand from gemstones, minerals and other materials such as glass. Many of these are hand cut and polished by my best friend (and husband) Bruce. He especially loves working with the the beautiful picture jaspers found throughout Oregon.
I love the beauty of natural stones, and have set out to enhance their unique beauty with the glint of the sterling or 14 karat gold fill wire that I frame them with. My art is about the stone, not the wire. I want you to feel elegant and beautiful wearing my work.
Wire wrapping cabochons started out as a way to make jewelry out of some turquoise pieces that I picked up while traveling in Nevada. I started with some inexpensive simple stones and found myself immediately hooked! Wire wrapping is my therapy, it gets me out of my analytical left brain and into my creative right. As a health care provider by day, I have found working with stone to be soothing and calming, a great way to end my day and to "heal thyself"! Of course, my "therapy" has a side effect: lots of jewelry to find a home for! Recently I have been dabbling with silversmithing and my new passion is for silver art clay. This is a recycled silver product; it is produced from spent X-ray and photography films. Particles of fine silver are combined with an organic binder, which burns off during a firing process. The end result is .999 fine silver.
I hope you will enjoy wearing my work for years to come.
