As an agate collector I devised this basket as a way to show off small agate nuggets.
“Newport Blue” agate is actually a blue-black agate found near Newport, Oregon. They often have white “frosting” in bands or spots.
Agate is a hard stone found throughout the world in many colors. Agates can have banded colors, mossy inclusions, plumes, and other varied features. It is thought to protect the wearer from danger and promote courage. Typically, water with silica in solution percolates through rock or wood or other materials, depositing in layers. Wood and fossils can be agatized.
Wrapped in solid sterling silver wire.
