Sage Pearl Drop Fine Silver Pendant

I love creating shapes and pieces using the organic things in the forest around me, in this case, sage from my garden. Adorned with a green CZ bead, a freshwater pearl and a sterling silver bead to add a little color.

Pearls are the product of mollusks, and are made of calcium carbonate, like the shell. Pearls from oysters are nacreous, composed of nacre which has a beautiful luster, like the mother of pearl that lines some shells.

Silver Art Clay is made from silver reclaimed from photography and X-ray film, combined with an organic binder. It can be formed just like clay: rolled, stamped, coiled, joined, and is then dried. Then it is fired by kiln or flame and the organics burn out, leaving either fine or sterling silver depending upon the formula. It is versatile and fun to work!
